Every 20 minutes, someone is hurt or killed by a landmine and every second, someone new contracts Tuberculosis. These are daunting numbers, but a local, cheap, and efficient solution exists: HeroRATS! One HeroRAT can clear 100 square meters of a landmine field in 30 minutes;that is the equivalent of two days work for a manual deminer. Another can evaluate 40 TB samples in 7 minutes, equal to what a skilled lab technician, will do in two days!

Adopting a HeroRAT comes with a number of perks including:

• Pictures of your HeroRAT "in action"
• News and reports from Tanzania about the HeroRAT project
• Milestone updates from the trainers regarding your rats individual progress and activities either in the training field or in the real minefield.
• Email access to your HeroRAT and trainers 

The adoption program is a great way to gain insight into how a HeroRAT is trained and to get to know their trainers as well.  Because the actual cost to train a HeroRAT is quite costly, the cost is shared by a number of adopters supporting each HeroRAT.  The minimum cost per adopter to feed and train a landmine or TB sniffer rat each month is €5 (currency converter).

As such we ask that all rat adoption contributions are €5 or higher per month. Contributions are made via PayPal with a credit card.  If you do not wish to use a credit card, you may donate directly from your bank account at these foundations.  If at any time you need to stop your monthly donation, please contact PayPal directly.
